The setup process for all GL.iNet devices is simple and almost identical. Please refer to our official documentation for detailed instructions.

It's important to note that the GL.iNet router cannot replace a VPN service. You will still need to pay for a VPN service provider to get the VPN service. However, the router can connect to public or hotel Wi-Fi in repeater mode.

Regarding the security of the pre-installed VPN, it is as secure as a paid VPN service, as we offer OpenVPN and WireGuard, which are widely trusted and used by many VPN providers. The VPN speeds can reach up to 150 Mbps (OpenVPN) and 300 Mbps (WireGuard) via Ethernet.

Our devices run on the latest OpenWrt 21.02 firmware, offering a customizable platform with over 5,000 ready-made plug-ins. They also support advanced security features like WPA3, DNS over HTTPS/TLS, and IPv6, ensuring your network's protection.

Additionally, the Beryl AX can host a VPN server and VPN client simultaneously, enabling remote access to local network resources and public internet access through the VPN client.
